The last 13-inch Pro — retains the Touch Bar, has two USB-C ports and no MagSafe. Both M1 and M2 versions share the A2338 number.
Getting the A-number right matters — several MacBooks look identical externally but take completely different parts. Compare it against every model we repair if you are unsure.
These are the faults we see on this specific model at our Ghumar Mandi workshop — not a generic list. Recognising yours here usually means we already hold the parts and know the fix.
Liquid damage
The leading reason an A2338 reaches our bench. Apple Silicon boards are dense and corrosion moves fast, but recovery rates are good when the machine arrives quickly and was never powered on afterwards.
USB-C port and charging IC failure
Two ports, no MagSafe, so everything including charging runs through them. Surge damage from third-party chargers is a common cause and repairable at component level.
Touch Bar faults
The A2338 kept the Touch Bar. Blank or partially unresponsive Touch Bars are usually a cable or connector issue, sometimes the assembly itself — diagnosed before quoting.
Display cable and backlight faults
A dark screen that shows a faint image under a torch is a board-level backlight repair, not a display replacement. Always worth the torch test before accepting a display quote.
Boot failure after a macOS update
Occasionally fixable with a DFU revive using a second Mac, without erasing data. We attempt this before any hardware diagnosis.
Part of the M1/M2 package and Secure Enclave-encrypted. Your data physically lives on the logic board, so replacing the board destroys it — chip-level repair is the only recovery route.

Parts availability is good. Board work requires Apple Silicon handling and DFU capability — capabilities most shops in the region lack.
Always worth repairing. The A2338 is a current, fully supported machine and every repair costs a fraction of replacement. It is also the only way to preserve data held on its soldered storage.
