No Power Recovery · Ludhiana
No power, no chime, no fan spin, no charging light — a MacBook that shows nothing at all is the fault we see most, and the one most often written off wrongly. We revive roughly nine out of ten dead MacBooks brought to our Ghumar Mandi workshop.

You press the power button and nothing happens. No startup chime, no fan noise, no keyboard backlight, no light on the charger. The machine that worked yesterday now behaves like a slab of aluminium. Almost everyone assumes at this point that the MacBook is finished.
It usually is not. A dead MacBook is a machine where the power sequence has stopped somewhere between the charger and the processor. That sequence has many stages, and a failure at any one of them produces identical symptoms — total silence. The good news is that finding where it stops is a methodical process, and the components that stop it are replaceable.
The symptoms tell us a lot before the board even comes out. These variations point in different directions:
This is the single biggest cause we see in Ludhiana. Mains voltage across Punjab is not always clean, and a surge travelling through a cheap third-party charger goes straight into the board's input stage. Sometimes it just blows a protective fuse — a genuinely small repair. Sometimes it takes the charging IC with it.
Liquid creates paths where there should be none. A board can appear to work for days after a spill and then die suddenly as corrosion bridges a rail. Even a small amount of tea or a drink knocked over months ago is enough. See our liquid damage recovery guide.
A deeply discharged or internally shorted battery can prevent the machine from powering on at all, even on mains. That is why one of the first checks is running the machine on a bench supply with the battery disconnected — it separates a battery problem from a board problem in minutes.
Capacitors dry out, solder joints fatigue, ICs degrade. Machines used heavily for years in warm conditions, or used on beds and sofas where the vents are blocked, age faster. Older MacBook Pro models are particularly prone to this.
A drop can crack a component or flex the board enough to break a solder joint or an internal trace. The machine often looks perfect from the outside while a hairline crack under a chip has ended the power sequence.
Diagnosis is free at every stage. If the board turns out to be beyond economic repair, you pay nothing and we say so plainly.
Apple Silicon MacBooks die too, and many shops in the region will not touch them. The most common causes we see are liquid damage, USB-C port and charging IC failure after a surge, and power delivery faults on the board. The diagnostic approach is the same; the difference is that the SoC carries your storage, so we handle the board specifically to protect data, and we can perform DFU restores in-house when the fault turns out to be firmware rather than hardware.
If none of that works, stop. Repeatedly hammering the power button on a board with a short circuit does further damage. That is the point to bring it in.
| Root cause | Typical repair cost | Turnaround |
|---|---|---|
| Blown input fuse | ₹2,500 – ₹4,500 | Same day – 24 hrs |
| Charging IC failure | ₹4,500 – ₹9,000 | 24 – 48 hrs |
| PMIC / power sequencing | ₹6,500 – ₹12,000 | 24 – 72 hrs |
| Shorted capacitor on a rail | ₹3,500 – ₹6,500 | 24 – 48 hrs |
| USB-C / MagSafe port replacement | ₹4,000 – ₹8,500 | 24 – 48 hrs |
| Liquid damage, multiple faults | ₹8,000 – ₹16,000 | 3 – 5 days |
For many customers the files matter more than the machine. If your MacBook has removable storage (2013–2017 models), we can read the drive directly and hand you the data within a day, whether or not the board is repaired. On T2 Intel and Apple Silicon machines the storage is soldered and encrypted to the board, so recovery requires bringing the board back to a working state — which is exactly what we do. See data recovery for the full process.
Many of the dead MacBooks on our bench arrive after another shop has quoted a full board replacement or simply declared the machine finished. That verdict usually reflects the shop's equipment rather than your MacBook's condition. Bring the machine and any previous quote to Dubai Complex, Video Market, Ghumar Mandi — the second opinion is free, and it is often the difference between a ₹5,000 repair and a ₹90,000 replacement. Dead MacBook repair pricing depends on where the power path has failed. Diagnosis is free, and we quote in writing before touching the board.
