Apple Watch repair is fiddly, low-margin work, which is why most repair counters in Ludhiana will not take it on. The components are tiny, the screen is bonded to the case with adhesive and a fragile ribbon cable, and the internal battery sits directly beneath the display. Done impatiently, a screen replacement tears the flex cable and turns a repairable watch into a paperweight.
We work on Apple Watch at the same microscope bench we use for logic boards, which is exactly the kind of precision this device needs.
The most common repair by far. On most models the glass and OLED are bonded, so a crack means replacing the display assembly rather than just glass. If the touch still works and the crack is cosmetic, it is worth knowing that Apple Watch glass cracks tend to spread — and once moisture reaches the display connector, the repair becomes more expensive.
If the display has started to separate from the body at one edge, the battery underneath has swollen. This is the second most common Apple Watch fault and it is genuinely time-sensitive: continued swelling pushes the screen further until the flex cable tears, at which point you need a new display as well as a battery. Stop wearing it, stop charging it overnight, and bring it in.
A watch that no longer lasts a day, dies suddenly at 30%, or gets warm on the wrist has a worn battery. Apple Watch batteries are small and cycle hard — daily charging means they age faster than a phone's. Replacement restores full-day battery life and is far cheaper than a new watch.
A watch that will not charge is not always a watch fault. We test the charging puck and cable first — they fail often, and the fault is frequently a frayed cable or a puck that no longer holds magnetic alignment. Where the watch itself is at fault, it is usually the internal charging coil or the charging circuit on the board.
Apple Watches are water resistant, not waterproof, and that resistance degrades as seals age — particularly after a previous screen repair. Symptoms are condensation under the glass, distorted or crackling audio, an unresponsive Digital Crown, or a watch that stops charging. Bring it in without charging it. We open, clean and dry the internals and reseal on reassembly.
A Digital Crown that no longer scrolls, feels gritty or has stopped clicking is usually contaminated with sweat, soap residue and skin oils — often cleanable rather than replaceable. Muffled speakers and microphones that fail on calls are typically blocked ports, which we clean without opening the watch where possible.
The rear sensor array can separate from the case, usually alongside battery swelling. A watch that no longer reads heart rate, or that constantly asks you to re-check your wrist, may have a detached or dirty sensor rather than a failed one.

We will tell you plainly. On a Series 3 or 4 that no longer receives watchOS updates, a ₹6,000 display replacement rarely makes sense against the price of a used later model. A battery replacement on the same watch often does, because it is cheap and returns the device to full usefulness. On a Series 9, 10 or Ultra, almost any repair is worth doing against the replacement cost.
This is where honesty matters. Once an Apple Watch has been opened, its original factory water-resistance rating cannot be certified again — by us or by anyone else. We reseal with fresh adhesive, which restores good resistance to splashes, rain and handwashing, but we do not tell customers a repaired watch is safe for swimming or diving. Any shop that promises otherwise is guessing with your device.
