Across Ludhiana & Punjab
Shiv i Care began with a straightforward observation: Ludhiana had plenty of laptop repair shops, and almost nowhere that could actually repair a Mac. Machines with a single failed component were being written off, or couriered to Delhi and returned weeks later with a bill larger than the fault deserved.
Board-level repair is a different discipline from parts replacement. It needs a stereo microscope, hot-air and preheat rework stations, bench power supplies, thermal imaging, schematics and boardview files — and, more than any of that, a technician who can read a power sequence and work out where it stops. We built that capability in Ludhiana so people here would not have to send their machines away.
The core of it is simple: we find the actual fault before quoting. A MacBook with a black screen might have a failed display, a damaged cable, or a blown backlight fuse on the logic board — three faults with wildly different prices. A shop that cannot tell them apart will quote the most expensive one, because that is the only outcome they can deliver.
We would rather do the ₹4,000 board repair and keep the customer. Ten years in, most of our work comes from people sent by someone we have already helped — which only happens if the last quote was honest.
We work from the first floor of Dubai Complex in Video Market, Ghumar Mandi — central Ludhiana, easy to reach from Model Town, Sarabha Nagar, Civil Lines and Ferozepur Road. It is a working bench, not a retail counter: microscopes, rework stations, an ultrasonic cleaner, bench supplies and a burn-in shelf where repaired machines run under load for a day or two before anyone gets a phone call.
Machines reach us from well beyond the city too — Khanna, Jagraon, Doraha, Samrala, Phillaur, Moga and Chandigarh — usually because someone was told their MacBook was beyond repair.
MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are the majority of our work, from 2012 Intel machines to the latest M3 models — logic board repair, dead MacBook recovery, screen replacement, battery replacement and data recovery. We also service iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
People are sometimes surprised that a MacBook repair needs more than a screwdriver set. Component-level work on a modern Apple board is closer to electronics engineering than to laptop assembly, and the tooling reflects that:
The first lesson is that symptoms lie. A black screen is not a screen fault, a machine that will not charge is often not a battery fault, and a laptop that shuts down randomly rarely has anything wrong with its software. Anyone who quotes from a description over the phone is guessing — which is why we give price ranges over the phone and firm prices only after the machine is on the bench.
The second is that speed matters more than customers expect, especially with liquid. A spill brought in on the same day is usually a straightforward clean. The same spill after three weeks of the machine being switched on repeatedly can mean replacing multiple components — or losing the board entirely. If something has been spilled, the right move is to power the machine off and bring it in, not to wait and see.
The third is that most people do not want the cheapest option. They want to understand what is wrong, what the choices are, and what each one costs. Given that, they make sensible decisions on their own. That is why our estimates name the actual failed component rather than saying "board problem".
Our customers are students and researchers from PAU and the engineering colleges, architects and design studios, chartered accountants and legal firms around Ferozepur Road and Civil Lines, photographers and video editors, and the hosiery, cycle-parts and export businesses that run Ludhiana's economy. What they have in common is that a MacBook out of action costs them working days, not just money — which is why same-day diagnosis and a realistic timeline matter as much as the price.
We also see a steady flow of machines from Khanna, Jagraon, Doraha, Samrala, Phillaur, Moga, Rajpura and Chandigarh, usually sent by someone we have already helped. Word of mouth is most of our business, which is a strong incentive to quote honestly the first time.
Not everything is repairable, and pretending otherwise wastes your money. Boards with severe long-term corrosion, physical fractures through the layers, or damage from a previous bad repair sometimes cannot be brought back reliably. When that is the case we say so at the free diagnosis stage, before you have spent anything, and we talk through the alternatives — including the option of not repairing at all.
That honesty is the whole business model. Come and see the bench, ask what is actually wrong, and decide with real information in front of you.
If a ₹1,200 component fixes your MacBook, that is what we charge for. Replacement is a last resort, not a default.
Every quote follows an actual diagnosis with a microscope, a bench supply and a thermal camera — never a guess based on symptoms.
We regularly tell customers a repair is not worth the money. A sale that leaves you worse off is not a sale worth making.
Printed on the invoice, with terms you can hold us to — not a verbal promise at the counter.
We do not split attention across printers, Windows laptops and CCTV. Depth in one platform beats breadth across ten.
Never accessed, copied or wiped without your written permission, and backed up before board work wherever possible.

Our Repair Process
You always know where your MacBook is, what is wrong with it and what it will cost — before a single component is touched.
Bring the MacBook in and we run a full intake check — power draw on the charger, display response, storage health and physical inspection. No charge, no obligation.
The board comes out and goes under the microscope. We check power rails against schematics, look for corrosion, and use a thermal camera to find shorted components.
You get a written, itemised estimate with the exact fault, the fix, the timeline and the warranty. Nothing is ordered or soldered until you approve it.
Micro-soldering and BGA rework under a stereo microscope with hot air and preheat stations. We replace the failed component, not the entire board.
A 24–48 hour burn-in: thermal load testing, battery charge/discharge cycles, port-by-port verification and full Apple Diagnostics before sign-off.
You collect a fully tested machine with a written warranty on the repaired component, plus honest advice on keeping it healthy.
