If you are searching for MacBook repair in Ludhiana, you have probably already been told one of two things: that your machine needs a new logic board costing more than the laptop is worth, or that it has to be couriered to Delhi and you should call back in three weeks. Neither is usually true. Most MacBook failures come down to a single component on the board — a power management IC, a blown fuse, a shorted capacitor, a damaged backlight filter — and those are repairable in a properly equipped workshop.
That is what we do at Shiv i Care. We are an independent Apple laptop repair service in Ludhiana, working out of Dubai Complex in Video Market, Ghumar Mandi. Every technician on our bench works on Apple hardware exclusively, using stereo microscopes, hot-air and preheat rework stations, DC power supplies, thermal cameras and official boardview files. That is the difference between a shop that replaces parts and a shop that repairs them.
We handle the full range of MacBook faults across MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, from 2012 Intel machines to the latest Apple Silicon models.
A MacBook that shows absolutely nothing when you press the power button is the single most common machine we see. Owners assume it is dead for good. In reality the board is almost always still alive at the input stage — the fault sits somewhere between the charger and the CPU, on one of the power rails that must come up in sequence before the machine will boot.
We connect the board to a bench power supply and watch the current draw. A board pulling zero amps points to a broken input path — a blown fuse, a failed charging IC, a damaged USB-C or MagSafe port. A board pulling a fixed, stubborn current points to a short circuit, which we locate with a thermal camera and micro-injection. From there it is a component-level repair, not a board swap. Read the full breakdown on our dead MacBook repair page.
Tea, coffee, water, cold drinks — liquid damage is the second most common repair at our Ludhiana workshop, and the one where your own actions matter most. Liquid itself rarely kills a MacBook instantly. What kills it is electricity flowing through a wet board, and corrosion spreading over the following days.
Our liquid damage process runs in stages: full disassembly, board removal, ultrasonic cleaning in a specialist solution, corrosion removal under the microscope, replacement of visibly damaged components, then rail-by-rail power testing. Machines that have been sitting wet for weeks need more component replacement, which is why the same spill can cost ₹4,000 in one case and ₹15,000 in another. We test in stages and tell you at each stage what the realistic outcome looks like.
Not every display problem needs a new display. Horizontal lines, a screen that is black but backlit, a screen that shows an image only under a torch, uneven brightness at the bottom edge — these are often board-level or cable-level faults. Where a genuine display fault exists, we offer both full lid assembly replacement and, on supported models, LCD-only replacement which keeps your original lid, hinges, camera and antennas and costs significantly less. Details on the MacBook screen replacement page.
A MacBook battery is a consumable. Apple rates most models for around 1,000 charge cycles, after which capacity falls away and the machine starts shutting down unexpectedly or throttling under load. If macOS shows Service Recommended or Service Battery, or if the trackpad has started clicking oddly and the base of the machine no longer sits flat, you are looking at a worn or swollen battery.
Charging faults are a separate problem from battery faults. If the machine is not charging at all, charges only at a certain cable angle, or reports "Not Charging" while plugged in, the fault is usually the port, the charging IC or a power rail on the board. We test the charger, the port and the board separately so you are not sold a battery when the real fault is a ₹1,500 board repair.
MacBooks from 2013 to 2017 use a proprietary Apple SSD connector, and those models can be upgraded to 512GB, 1TB or 2TB NVMe drives with an adapter — a genuinely transformative upgrade on a machine that has slowed down. We clone your existing installation, so you get back the same desktop, the same apps and the same files, just with far more room.
On T2 Intel machines and all M1, M2 and M3 MacBooks the storage is soldered to the logic board and encrypted to the Secure Enclave, so internal upgrades are not possible. For those machines we set up fast external NVMe storage over Thunderbolt or USB-C, which for most photo, video and archive workflows performs close to internal speeds at a fraction of the cost of a new machine.
The 2016–2019 butterfly keyboard is one of Apple's least reliable designs — a single crumb can leave a key repeating, sticking or dead. Where possible we clean and repair the individual key mechanism; where the keyboard has failed structurally, the correct fix is a topcase replacement, which we source and fit properly rather than gluing in a partial keyboard.
For trackpad faults, the first thing we check is the battery underneath it, because a swelling cell pressing on the trackpad is the most common cause of a trackpad that will not click. Beyond that we test the flex cable and the trackpad controller before recommending a replacement part.
Apple Silicon changed what repair means. On an M1, M2 or M3 MacBook the SoC, RAM and storage all live on the logic board, and the machine is paired to Apple's servers for restore operations. Many local shops simply refuse these machines. We repair them — including DFU restore, board-level diagnostics and micro-soldering repair on the power delivery and I/O sections.
The most common Apple Silicon faults we handle in Ludhiana are liquid damage (the boards are dense and corrosion spreads fast), USB-C port and charging IC failure, display cable damage from over-extension, and no-power faults after a bad charger or power surge. We service MacBook Air M1 (A2337), M2 (A2681), 15" M2 (A2941), M3 (A3113), and MacBook Pro A2338, A2442, A2485, A2779, A2918 and A2991.
MacBook Pro machines take the heaviest workloads and, unsurprisingly, show the widest range of faults. On Retina Intel models (A1502, A1706, A1708, A1989, A1990, A2141) we most often repair GPU and power-rail failures, flexgate display cable damage, failing Touch Bars, keyboard failures and thermal throttling from clogged fans. On Apple Silicon Pros we deal mostly with liquid damage, port failures and display issues. Whatever the model, the workflow is the same: diagnose the actual failure, quote it in writing, then repair the board rather than replace it.
MacBook Air machines are the everyday workhorses of students at PAU, GNDEC and Punjab University campuses, and of freelancers and small businesses across Ludhiana. The classic A1466 Air is still in daily use and still very repairable — battery, SSD upgrade, hinge and board repairs all extend its life cheaply. On Retina Airs (A1932, A2179, A2337 and later) we most commonly handle liquid damage, no-power faults, display damage and battery replacement.
