iPads take more physical abuse than any other Apple device. They get carried without cases, handed to children, propped against desks and dropped face-down more often than phones. The good news is that the most common iPad faults — cracked glass, failed batteries, dead charging ports — are all repairable, and usually for far less than a replacement.
We repair iPads at the same bench as MacBooks, with the same microscopes and rework equipment. That matters because a meaningful share of iPad faults are board-level, and a shop that can only swap screens will simply hand those back.
The single most common iPad repair. On older iPads (iPad 5th–9th generation, iPad mini) the glass digitiser is a separate layer from the LCD, so a cracked screen with a working display is a comparatively inexpensive glass-only repair. On iPad Air 4/5, iPad Pro and iPad 10th generation the glass and LCD are fully laminated, so a crack means replacing the whole assembly — more expensive, and worth knowing before you get a quote elsewhere that sounds too cheap to be real.
An iPad that displays normally but ignores your finger — or registers phantom taps — usually has a damaged digitiser or a failed touch controller on the logic board. The second is the classic "touch IC" fault and is a chip-level repair, not a screen replacement. We test both before quoting so you are not sold a screen for a board fault.
iPad batteries are rated for around 1,000 cycles. Past that you see rapid drain, shutdowns well above 0%, or an iPad that only runs while plugged in. iPad batteries are heavily glued into the chassis, so replacement is a slow, heat-controlled job — done carelessly it cracks the screen or punctures the cell. If the back has started to bulge or the screen is lifting at one edge, the battery is swelling and should be dealt with promptly.
iPads that charge only at an angle, charge very slowly, or refuse to charge at all. The most frequent cause is compacted lint in the Lightning or USB-C port — genuinely a few minutes' work. Beyond that we repair the charging flex and, where the fault is on the board, the charging circuit itself.
Same rules as any Apple device: do not charge it, do not power it on to check, do not use rice, and bring it in quickly. We ultrasonically clean the board and remove corrosion. Recovery odds drop sharply with every day the machine sits wet — and with every attempt to switch it on.
An iPad with no power, stuck on the Apple logo, or in a boot loop that survives a restore has a board fault. We diagnose these with a bench power supply and microscope exactly as we do MacBook logic boards. This is also the only route to recovering photos and files from an iPad that will not start.
Blurry or non-focusing cameras, muffled speakers, unresponsive volume or power buttons and failed Home buttons are all routine repairs. Two honest caveats: on Touch ID models the Home button is paired to the logic board, so a damaged one cannot be replaced with working Touch ID; and on Face ID iPads a damaged TrueDepth module generally cannot be restored to full function. We tell you before starting, not after.

Sometimes not, and we will say so. On an eight-year-old iPad that no longer receives iPadOS updates, a ₹12,000 laminated display is rarely money well spent. On a two-year-old iPad Pro it obviously is. The rule we apply is the same one we use for MacBooks: if the repair costs more than roughly half what the device is worth working, we walk you through the alternatives before taking the job.
Back up to iCloud or a computer before bringing any device in, if it still powers on. We never access personal data without written permission, and for screen and battery work your data is untouched.
