Chip-Level Repair · Ludhiana
A failed logic board does not mean a failed MacBook. We repair boards at chip level under a microscope — replacing the individual IC, fuse or capacitor that actually failed — typically for 20–40% of what a board replacement costs.

The logic board is the MacBook. It carries the processor, the memory, the storage controller, the power delivery system and every port. When Apple-authorised channels find a fault on it, the standard response is to replace the whole board — which on a modern MacBook Pro can cost ₹40,000 to ₹90,000, often more than the machine is worth.
That price exists because board replacement is a fifteen-minute job that requires no diagnostic skill. Logic board repair is the opposite: it takes a microscope, rework equipment, schematics, boardview files and a technician who can read a power sequence. It also takes a fraction of the money. At Shiv i Care in Ghumar Mandi, Ludhiana, chip-level board repair is our core discipline.
Board-level faults rarely announce themselves clearly. These are the symptoms that most often turn out to be board problems rather than the part the owner suspects:
After ten years on Apple boards, the failure list is fairly predictable. Understanding it is what makes fast, accurate diagnosis possible.
The PMIC generates and sequences the low-voltage rails the CPU and chipset need. When it fails, the machine typically shows no power at all or a fixed current draw that never progresses. This is one of the most common no-power causes on both Intel and Apple Silicon boards, and it is fully repairable with a replacement IC and hot-air rework.
The input stage takes power from MagSafe or USB-C, protects the board with fuses, and hands it to the charging controller. Surges from poor-quality chargers and unstable mains — a real issue across Punjab — kill this stage regularly. A blown input fuse is a genuinely inexpensive repair that we see quoted as a board replacement all the time.
The SMC governs power, thermals, battery charging, keyboard backlight and sleep behaviour. SMC-side faults produce strange, intermittent symptoms: fans at full speed from a cold boot, a battery that will not charge, a machine that sleeps immediately or refuses to sleep at all.
If your screen is dark but you can see the desktop faintly under a torch, the LCD panel is fine — the backlight circuit on the board has failed, usually a blown backlight fuse plus a damaged filter or driver. It is one of the cheapest board repairs there is, and one of the most frequently mis-sold as a ₹25,000 display replacement.
Older 15" MacBook Pro models with discrete graphics suffer solder-joint fatigue under the GPU from years of heat cycling. Symptoms are artefacts on screen, garbled graphics, external-display failure and boot hangs. Proper repair means BGA rework — reballing or replacing the chip — not the "heat gun reflow" that gives a machine two more weeks of life.
Liquid does not damage a board evenly. It creates leakage paths between adjacent pins, corrodes component legs, and eats through traces over days and weeks. This work is slow: ultrasonic cleaning, corrosion removal under magnification, component replacement, then rail-by-rail verification.
Only after this do we quote. The estimate names the fault, the component, the price and the warranty — and we tell you honestly if a board is not economically repairable, which occasionally happens with severe long-term corrosion or physical board fracture.
Apple Silicon boards are denser, run at lower voltages and integrate more into the SoC — but the failure pattern is not fundamentally different. The power delivery section, the USB-C and charging circuitry, the display circuitry and the audio section all still fail, and all are still repairable.
What is different is the handling. The SoC includes memory and storage, so careless rework risks the customer's data permanently. Restore operations require DFU with a second Mac and Apple Configurator. We service M1 (A2337, A2338), M1 Pro/Max (A2442, A2485), M2 (A2681, A2941, A2779), M3 (A3113, A2918, A2991) and related boards. If your data matters, tell us at intake and we plan the repair sequence around protecting it — see data recovery.
| Fault | Board replacement quote | Our chip-level repair |
|---|---|---|
| Blown input fuse, no power | ₹42,000+ | ₹2,500 – ₹4,500 |
| Failed PMIC / power sequencing | ₹48,000+ | ₹6,500 – ₹12,000 |
| Charging IC failure | ₹40,000+ | ₹4,500 – ₹9,000 |
| Backlight circuit failure | ₹25,000 (display) | ₹3,500 – ₹7,000 |
| Liquid damage, multiple rails | ₹55,000+ | ₹8,000 – ₹16,000 |
| GPU BGA rework (Intel 15") | ₹60,000+ | ₹12,000 – ₹18,000 |
Every repaired board goes through a burn-in period of 24 to 48 hours before we call you. It runs under thermal load, cycles the battery, gets every port checked and passes full Apple Diagnostics. Board-level repairs carry a written 3-month warranty on the repaired section; if the same fault returns within that period, we fix it again at no charge.
We are honest about the limits too. A board that has suffered severe long-term corrosion, or that has been through a bad previous repair with lifted pads, may be repairable but with a shorter realistic life. When that is the case we tell you before you spend money, so you can decide between a repair, a used board or a different machine.
Chip-level board repair is a rare skill in this region, so we receive machines from well beyond the city — Khanna, Jagraon, Doraha, Samrala, Phillaur, Moga, Rajpura and Chandigarh — alongside walk-ins from Model Town, Sarabha Nagar, Civil Lines, Ferozepur Road, PAU, Dugri and Haibowal. If your MacBook has been declared dead elsewhere, bring it to Ghumar Mandi for a free look before you write it off. More on our full MacBook repair service in Ludhiana.
Logic board repair pricing depends on which section of the board has failed and whether replacement ICs are available for your model. Every case gets a free diagnosis and a written estimate before work begins.
