Shiv i Care
The 16-inch Intel Pro — first model to drop the butterfly keyboard for the Magic Keyboard, with a physical Escape key and a larger cooling system.
Getting the A-number right matters — several MacBooks look identical externally but take completely different parts. Compare it against every model we repair if you are unsure.
These are the faults we see on this specific model at our Ghumar Mandi workshop — not a generic list. Recognising yours here usually means we already hold the parts and know the fix.
Thermal load and fan noise
Apple improved cooling substantially on the 16-inch, but an i9 with discrete graphics still runs hot. Dust build-up and aged paste bring back throttling, and servicing the cooling path makes a clear difference.
Discrete GPU faults
Radeon Pro 5000M-series graphics can develop the same solder-joint issues as earlier models, showing as artefacts or external-display failure. BGA rework is the correct repair.
Battery swelling
The 16-inch carries a large battery. Swelling lifts the trackpad and can bow the chassis. Because of the cell size, this is one to act on promptly rather than live with.
T2 no-power and boot faults
Total silence on the power button, or boot loops that survive a clean macOS install, point at the board rather than software.
Speaker and audio damage from liquid
The six-speaker system sits under grilles either side of the keyboard, so spills reach the speakers early — crackling or muffled audio is often the first symptom of a spill that also reached the board.
Soldered and T2-encrypted — no upgrades, and board repair is the only route to data.
The end of the butterfly era. Reliable mechanism; faults here are liquid-related rather than mechanical.
These are the ranges we actually quote for the A2141 after a free diagnosis. The written estimate you approve is the price you pay.
| Repair | Typical range | Turnaround |
|---|---|---|
| Deep clean + thermal repaste | ₹4,000 – ₹7,000 | 24 hrs |
| Battery / topcase assembly | ₹18,000 – ₹28,000 | 3 – 5 days |
| GPU BGA rework | ₹13,000 – ₹22,000 | 3 – 6 days |
| T2 / no-power board repair | ₹8,500 – ₹20,000 | 2 – 4 days |
| Speaker replacement | ₹5,000 – ₹11,000 | 1 – 3 days |
| Display assembly | ₹30,000 – ₹45,000 | 3 – 6 days |
| Liquid damage board repair | ₹9,000 – ₹22,000 | 3 – 5 days |
16-inch displays and topcases are expensive and usually need ordering. Board components are stocked.
Worth repairing at essentially every level. The A2141 is still a strong machine for video, design and development work, and even a ₹20,000 board repair is a fraction of replacing an equivalent 16-inch Pro. The display is the one part where the cost warrants a conversation first.
Turnaround for this model is shown against each repair in the table above; diagnosis itself is same-day. Before leaving your MacBook Pro anywhere, it is worth knowing which questions to ask a repair shop — the difference between component-level repair and board replacement is invisible from the outside and decides both your bill and whether your data survives.
Bring your A2141 to Shiv i Care in Ghumar Mandi, Ludhiana, or call +91 75080 10067 first and describe the fault. See also MacBook repair, logic board repair and data recovery.
