Display
6.7" Super Retina XDR, ProMotion OLED 120Hz
Years
2023 – 2024
Port
USB-C
Back glass
Laser separation
6.7-inch titanium Pro with an Action Button and three cameras — and the only iPhone of its year with 5x optical zoom. If your telephoto reaches noticeably further than a friend's 15 Pro, this is why.
Display
The largest ProMotion panel of its year. The most expensive screen in the 15 line, and unforgiving of low-grade replacements at this size.
Back glass
Large matte panel in a titanium frame, laser separated. Slower and more delicate than the aluminium-framed Plus of the same size.
Face ID
Face ID components are paired to the logic board and the display. An aftermarket screen needs the pairing transferred by microsoldering, or Face ID stops working entirely.
Charging
USB-C, the first generation to switch. The port is a modular part rather than something soldered to the board, which makes port replacement cleaner than it was on Lightning models — but it also means cheap third-party cables and chargers now carry more risk, and we do see boards damaged by them. As on the 15 Pro, faster data transfer means a marginal port repair shows up as unreliable transfers rather than just charging trouble.
Battery
A large cell against a large always-on ProMotion display. Real-world life is strong and batteries at this age are typically fine.
Tetraprism telephoto failure
Unique to this model. The folded 5x zoom module is more mechanically complex than a conventional telephoto, and when it fails the 5x view is black or refuses to focus while the other lenses work.
Cracked 6.7-inch ProMotion panel
The most expensive repair in the 15 line. Worth insisting on a genuine-grade panel.
USB-C port damage
Modular and replaceable, with cheap chargers the usual cause.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Repair it — this is still close to a current flagship and nothing that commonly goes wrong with it approaches replacement cost. The 5x telephoto is the part worth protecting: it is the model's distinguishing feature and the most intricate camera module in the line, so a face-down drop onto the camera bump is the accident to avoid.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
