Display
6.1" Super Retina XDR OLED
Years
2023 – 2025
Port
USB-C
Back glass
Laser separation
USB-C port at the bottom, Dynamic Island at the top, two cameras, and a softly coloured matte back that is tinted through the glass rather than painted. If it has a mute switch rather than a button, it is a 15 rather than a 15 Pro.
Display
60Hz OLED with Dynamic Island — the feature moved down from the Pro line this year. A different assembly from the 15 Pro, which adds ProMotion.
Back glass
The colour-infused back glass is laser separated. Because the colour runs through the glass rather than sitting on it, aftermarket panels vary more visibly in shade than painted backs did — worth seeing the part before it goes on.
Face ID
Face ID components are paired to the logic board and the display. An aftermarket screen needs the pairing transferred by microsoldering, or Face ID stops working entirely.
Charging
USB-C, the first generation to switch. The port is a modular part rather than something soldered to the board, which makes port replacement cleaner than it was on Lightning models — but it also means cheap third-party cables and chargers now carry more risk, and we do see boards damaged by them.
Battery
A recent phone, so batteries are generally healthy. The ones we see early tend to belong to people charging from cheap high-wattage USB-C bricks.
Cracked screen
The most common repair by far on a phone this age. Straightforward, with the Face ID pairing transferred.
USB-C port damage from poor cables
A new failure mode. Low-quality USB-C cables and chargers can damage the port or the charging circuit — more consequential than the equivalent on Lightning.
Cracked back glass
Colour-infused glass, laser separated. Shade matching is the compromise on aftermarket parts.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Repair, without question. This is a current phone with years of software support ahead of it, and every common fault costs a small fraction of replacement. The one habit worth changing afterwards is the charger — a good share of the USB-C port and charging-circuit damage we see traces back to cheap bricks.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
