The 6.7-inch Pro of 2022: Dynamic Island, three cameras, matte back, stainless steel sides. Against a 14 Plus of the same size, look for the pill cutout and the third camera.
Display
The largest and brightest panel of its generation, with Dynamic Island and always-on. Also the most expensive screen in the 14 line by a clear margin.
Back glass
Bonded rear glass requiring laser separation. Like the 14 Pro, it did not receive the removable panel that the standard 14 and 14 Plus got — a genuine cost difference against the same-size 14 Plus.
Face ID
Face ID components are paired to the logic board and to the display. An aftermarket screen needs the pairing transferred by microsoldering to keep Face ID working — done properly it behaves normally, done cheaply it does not work at all.
Charging
Lightning, the final Pro Max before the switch to USB-C.
Battery
A large cell working against a large always-on ProMotion display. Real-world life is good but not as strong as the simpler 14 Plus.
Cracked 6.7-inch ProMotion panel
The most expensive screen repair in this generation. Panel grade is visible at this size, so a very low quote is worth questioning.
Cracked bonded back glass
Unlike the 14 Plus of identical size, this needs laser separation. Same damage, very different bill.
Main camera stabilisation failure
The 48MP sensor and its stabilisation showing as blur or judder in video and low light.
Telephoto failure
The 3x lens producing black frames while the other two work normally.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Worth repairing — this is still a top-tier phone and most faults on it cost far less than replacing it. Be aware that it is the most expensive of the four 14 models to fix for the two most common accidents, a cracked screen and a cracked back. If both have happened at once, we will put the combined figure next to the phone's resale value before you decide.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
