Two cameras set diagonally, a notch rather than a pill-shaped cutout, 6.1-inch screen. If the top of your screen shows a pill that expands when you tap it, you have a 14 Pro instead.
Display
60Hz OLED with the traditional notch. Different assembly from the 14 Pro, which has the Dynamic Island and ProMotion.
Back glass
This is the standout: Apple redesigned the 14 and 14 Plus so the rear glass is a removable panel rather than a bonded pane. A cracked back on this model is dramatically quicker and cheaper to repair than on any iPhone before it — or on the 14 Pro sitting beside it, which did not get the redesign.
Face ID
Face ID components are paired to the logic board and to the display. An aftermarket screen needs the pairing transferred by microsoldering to keep Face ID working — done properly it behaves normally, done cheaply it does not work at all.
Charging
Lightning, the last generation before USB-C. Lint remains the first thing to check on a charging complaint.
Battery
A healthy cell for the size and only three to four years old, so batteries here are typically fine unless the phone has been heavily used or fast-charged constantly.
Cracked back glass — the cheap one
Worth stating plainly because owners assume the worst: on a 14, the rear panel is a separate serviceable part. This is the one iPhone generation where a cracked back is not a painful bill.
Cracked screen
Still the most common repair overall. Straightforward, with the Face ID pairing transferred as part of the job.
Camera glass cracking
The diagonal bump protrudes and takes face-down impacts. Usually just the cover glass.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Clearly worth repairing, and unusually good value for back glass damage specifically. If you cracked the back of a 14, do not assume it is a write-off — the redesigned chassis makes it one of the cheaper repairs we do, and many owners are surprised by the quote in a good way.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
