Display
6.7" Super Retina XDR OLED
Years
2020 – 2021
Port
Lightning
Back glass
Laser separation
The largest of the 2020 line at 6.7 inches, with three cameras, LiDAR, a matte back and stainless steel sides. Distinctly bigger and heavier than the 6.1-inch 12 and 12 Pro.
Display
The largest OLED of the generation and the priciest to replace. Panel grade matters more at this size — colour shift and touch inconsistency that would go unnoticed on a small screen are obvious across 6.7 inches.
Back glass
A large matte panel, laser separated. More area means a longer separation and a greater chance of visible finish mismatch on an aftermarket part.
Face ID
Paired dot projector, board-level repair only — as with every 12.
Charging
Lightning. Long battery life meant less frequent charging for many owners, so ports on these are often in better condition than on smaller models of the same age.
Battery
The strongest battery of the generation, with a sensor-shift stabilised main camera drawing on it. Many are only now reaching their first replacement.
Cracked 6.7-inch OLED
The most expensive single repair in the 12 line. Worth an honest comparison against the phone's current value before proceeding.
Main camera stabilisation failure
This model used sensor-shift stabilisation. When it fails, photos judder or blur in low light while the lens still focuses.
First battery replacement, arriving late
Strong battery life meant these lasted; a large share are still on the original cell and well overdue.
Cracked camera bump glass
The largest, most protruding camera array of the generation takes the impact in a face-down drop.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Still a phone worth investing in — the camera system holds up and battery, port and camera repairs are all sensible spends. The exception is the screen: a cracked 6.7-inch OLED on a 2020 handset is a serious bill, and if the battery is finished too, we will lay out both numbers against a replacement phone rather than just quoting the repair.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
