Display
6.1" Super Retina XDR OLED
Years
2020 – 2021
Port
Lightning
Back glass
Laser separation
Same 6.1-inch size as the standard iPhone 12, but with three cameras, a LiDAR dot beside them, a matte frosted back and shiny stainless steel sides.
Display
Same panel size as the standard 12, but the Pro assembly is a different part and costs more. Fitting a standard 12 screen to a Pro is not an option despite the identical dimensions.
Back glass
Matte laser-separated glass. The frosted finish is harder to match with aftermarket parts than the glossy back on the standard 12, and a replacement can catch the light differently.
Face ID
Paired dot projector, board-level only — identical to the rest of the 12 line.
Charging
Lightning, with the same lint-first diagnosis. Worn ports are common on phones this age.
Battery
Slightly smaller cell than the standard 12 in the same body, because the camera module takes internal space. Owners tend to reach for a replacement a little sooner.
LiDAR or telephoto failure
Portrait mode falling back to software, or the 2x lens producing black frames. Both are Pro-only faults the standard 12 cannot have.
Cracked matte back glass
Laser separation makes the job manageable, but matching the frosted finish is where aftermarket parts show themselves.
Battery below 80%
A marginally smaller cell than the standard 12, so the same usage produces degradation slightly earlier.
Cracked camera bump glass
A larger, more protruding array than the standard model means it is the first thing to hit the floor.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Worth repairing for battery, port and camera work. The Pro camera system is the reason to keep this phone rather than move to a standard model, so a failed telephoto or LiDAR is usually worth putting right. A cracked screen plus a dead camera array on a 2020 phone is where we would run the numbers with you first.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
