Back glass
Laser separation
The largest iPhone of its year at 6.9 inches, titanium, three cameras, Action Button and Camera Control. Physically bigger than the 6.7-inch 15 Pro Max it replaced.
Display
The largest display in any iPhone. Also the costliest to replace, and the size at which a low-grade panel is impossible to miss.
Back glass
Large matte panel in titanium, laser separated. Slow, careful work — more so than the aluminium-framed 16 Plus of similar size.
Face ID
Face ID components are paired to the logic board and the display. An aftermarket screen needs the pairing transferred by microsoldering, or Face ID stops working entirely.
Charging
USB-C with faster transfer speeds, same as the 16 Pro. Port work needs to restore data as well as charging.
Battery
The largest cell in the line, with the electrically released adhesive making replacement cleaner than on previous Pro Max models.
Cracked 6.9-inch ProMotion panel
The most expensive single repair we quote on any iPhone. Worth protecting with a case and a screen protector.
Camera Control faults
Camera Control, the pressure-sensitive strip on the right edge, is new to this generation and is a new thing to break. It is a discrete component and can be replaced without disturbing the rest of the phone.
Telephoto camera failure
The 5x module producing black frames or failing to focus while the main and ultra-wide work.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Repair it. Even the most expensive fault on this phone costs far less than replacing a current flagship. The honest advice, though, is preventative: the 6.9-inch panel is the priciest screen we handle, and a case that covers the corners is a fraction of what one repair costs.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
