Laser separation
Two cameras stacked vertically rather than diagonally, an Action Button on the left, and a Camera Control strip on the right edge. The vertical camera layout is the quickest way to tell a 16 from a 15.
Display
60Hz OLED with Dynamic Island. A different assembly from the 16 Pro, which is both larger and runs ProMotion.
Back glass
Colour-infused glass, laser separated, MagSafe array refitted as part of the job.
Face ID
Face ID components are paired to the logic board and the display. An aftermarket screen needs the pairing transferred by microsoldering, or Face ID stops working entirely.
Charging
USB-C, modular and cleanly replaceable. Cheap high-wattage chargers remain the most common cause of port and charging-circuit damage we see on USB-C iPhones.
Battery
Genuinely notable: Apple moved to an electrically released battery adhesive on this generation. Applying a low voltage frees the cell rather than pulling stretch-release strips that can tear. It makes battery replacement faster and markedly safer for the surrounding components.
Cracked screen
The dominant repair on a phone this recent. Straightforward, with the Face ID pairing transferred as part of the job.
Camera Control not registering
A brand new failure point on this generation — the pressure-sensitive strip stops responding or triggers unpredictably. Replaceable as a discrete part.
USB-C port or charging circuit damage
Most often traced back to a poor-quality charger rather than the phone.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Repair, every time. This is a current phone with most of its supported life ahead of it, and no common fault comes close to replacement cost. It is also the easiest modern iPhone to service — the new battery adhesive alone removes the riskiest step in what used to be a fiddly job.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
