Bonded
Two cameras in a square bump on a glossy glass back, aluminium sides, and a notch. It came in six colours including purple, green and yellow — the Pro models of the same year were stainless steel with three cameras and a matte back.
Display
The only model in the 11 line with an LCD rather than OLED. That is good news: LCD assemblies cost meaningfully less than the OLED panels in the 11 Pro and Pro Max, so a cracked screen on a standard 11 is one of the cheaper repairs in this generation.
Back glass
The rear glass is bonded to the chassis, so replacing it means separating the old glass with heat and controlled cutting, then refitting. It is slow, skilled work — this is the generation before Apple redesigned the back for serviceability, and the difference in cost against an iPhone 14 is large.
Face ID
The Face ID dot projector is paired to the logic board. A replacement module will not work, so Face ID repair means transferring the original components at board level — not fitting a new part. If Face ID stopped after a previous screen repair elsewhere, the flex was almost certainly damaged during that job.
Charging
Lightning. The most common charging complaint on an 11 by a distance is compacted lint in the port rather than a hardware failure — worth checking with a torch before assuming a repair.
Battery
Every iPhone 11 is now well past its design cycle count, so battery replacement is the single most common job we do on them. Expect a non-genuine battery notice in Settings after any third-party cell, including ours — that is Apple's pairing, not a sign of a poor part.
Battery health collapse
These are six-year-old phones. Sudden shutdowns at 30–40% charge, or peak performance throttling, are the normal end-of-life pattern and a battery replacement usually restores the phone completely.
Cracked back glass
The bonded rear glass cracks readily on a drop and is the most expensive cosmetic repair on this model. If the phone is otherwise sound, a case is cheaper than the repair — we will say so.
Rear camera failure or shake
The ultra-wide or main camera stops focusing, or the image visibly judders. Usually the camera module itself; occasionally the connector after a previous repair.
Charging port wear
Loose fit, charging only at an angle, or intermittent connection. Often lint, sometimes a worn port that needs replacing at board level.
Diagnosis is free and the price is confirmed in writing before any work starts — we quote the machine in front of us, not a description over the phone.
Still worth repairing for battery, screen and port faults — the LCD panel keeps screen costs down and a battery brings the phone back to genuinely usable. Where we advise against spending is combined damage: a cracked back plus a failed board on a 2019 phone rarely justifies the bill against what the handset is now worth.
Face ID is not a parts swap
On every iPhone from the X onward, the Face ID components are paired to your logic board. Anyone offering to restore Face ID by fitting a new module is mistaken — it is board-level work transferring your original parts, or it does not work at all.
